Website issues

Update: The archives are up.

Oct. 4: the archives are being integrated into the website, and should be available by early next week.

Oct. 3, noon: we are still working on the archives.

“If anything can go wrong, it will.”

That’s Murphy’s Law, and when it came to the new Star News website rollout, it was true.

The top page reached by Star News readers in the six days since the website has gone live is “page not found.” It’s been seen nearly 800 times.

The reason is simple: the paper’s archives--the 7,000 or so stories printed prior to Sept. 19--can’t be accessed right now. We are working on a fix as I write this, and it should be resolved quickly.

Once the archives are accessible, you can find all stories by using the search box at the top right corner of the website. Within the next month or so, Google will index the archives, which means they will turn up in Google searches. As mentioned last week, links to articles older than two weeks won’t work. But that’s what Google and the search box are for.

We apologize for this inconvenience, and will keep you updated on our Facebook site and this article on the website at
