Fermentation Fest’s Farm/Art DTour wins grant

Wormfarm Institute won a $35,000 Art Works grant to support the Farm/Art DTour. The tour, which is held every other year, is part of Fermentation Fest. It was last held in 2018 and will return during this year’s festival. The grant was presented by the National Endowment for the Arts. Farming, conservation and art are featured during the tour, which winds its way through Sauk County. The Reedsburg-based Wormfarm Institute organizes both the tour and Fermentation Fest. During the first round of distribution, the National Endowment for the Arts has approved 1,187 grants worth $27.3 million. Funding supports projects that engage the public with the arts, arts education, arts displays, and the creation of new unique opportunities. In a statement, Wormfarm Institute Executive Director Donna Neuwirth said, “We are deeply honored to receive support from the NEA at a moment when rural America, and Wisconsin in particular, finds itself at the center of national attention. This multifaceted project, now in its eighth year, brings rural and urban people together to celebrate the land upon which we all depend. Even as this free nine day event lowers barriers to engagement, it upholds the highest standards of artistic excellence and artistic merit that is necessary for NEA support.” For more information on the 2020 DTour visit www.fermentationfest.com.
