Mazo Historical Society raises $16,000 for roof repair

Bob Dodsworth, Mazomanie Historical Society board member, hands Gary Harrop, President of the Village of Mazomanie, a check for $16,000 raised by a recent society fund drive. The money is a contribution for work done on the Brodhead Street museum which the society leases from the village. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. What started out as a roof leak quickly grew to a reconstruction of the internal support structure of the 120 year old building. Local architect Bill Montebano examined the interior and recommended a more thorough strengthening of the entire roof. Bids were let and the project was begun in early March and completed late the same month. The Rock Church Construction company of Livingston, Wisconsin, was the contractor.
