When a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office detective and a California Highway Patrol officer were out and about on May 22, they saw a car going faster than the posted speed limit. Suspecting a violation of the law, the cops pulled over the vehicle. A standard traffic stop quickly descended into a far more extensive probe.

Police said they saw “multiple indicators of narcotics trafficking” during the stop. An extensive examination of the car prompted by their suspicions turned out a stash of cocaine in a big tote bag concealed in the spare tire compartment. There was a huge amount in the package.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office reports that the search revealed 11.2 pounds of methamphetamine, 1.204 kilograms of cocaine, 1.365 pounds of xylazine fentanyl, and almost 10,000 multicolored, pressed counterfeit M30 tablets that were possibly fentanyl.

The driver of the car was detained right away, and the search for the larger network engaged in this trafficking operation is still under progress. The huge amount of drugs discovered points to a complex and extensive operation that law enforcement is now working to bring to an end.
