Fatal hit-and-run incident near the intersection of Northgate Boulevard and the Arden Garden Connector, one person charged

Sacramento, California – Tragic incident happened near the intersection of Northgate Boulevard and the Arden Garden Connector in Sacramento in the early hours of March 25, 2025. According a report by the Sacramento PD, officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to reports of a pedestrian and car accident just after midnight. Upon arrival, they found an adult male in the road suffering from major injuries.

Working to stabilize the injured until Sacramento Fire Department crews arrived, the responding police fast provided emergency aid. Despite their efforts, the victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. Before police arrived, the car that had hit the pedestrian fled the scene.

However, the vehicle suspected of being involved in the crash returned to the scene while officers were still investigating. The occupants of the car were arrested right away and additional investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident was started.

Detectives from the Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigations Unit (MCIU) and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) were called in because the accident was fatal. They began processing the scene, collecting evidence, canvassing the surrounding area, and speaking with witnesses.

After a thorough investigation, it was found that 34-year-old Abdishakur Mohamud, the driver of the car, had been operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or narcotics at the time of the accident. Mohamud was arrested and subsequently placed into the Main Jail of Sacramento County. He faces multiple felony charges, including hit-and-run resulting in death and driving under the influence.

The identification of the deceased is being handled by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, which will publish the person’s name once next of kin have been informed.

Authorities are now urging anyone who may have seen the collision or has any relevant information to come forward. Witnesses can contact the Sacramento Police Department’s dispatch center directly at (916) 808-5471. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357), or by using the free “P3 Tips” smartphone app. Those providing information may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

This event is yet another reminder of the risks of drunk driving and the permanent effects it can cause. The investigation is still ongoing.
