Cody Amble came to the September 9 Mickelsons-Martin American Legion Post 313 monthly meeting. This past June, Cody was the post’s Badger Boy’s State representative. He told the assembled group what had happened at Badger Boy’s State, and what a big change it had made in his life. Cody told us that now he is much more in tune with what is going on in his community, county, state, and even the nation. Mark Schoenemann presented a check for $500 from the Wisconsin River Sportsmen’s Club to Badger Honor Flight at their monthly meeting on September 5. It costs $500 just for one veteran to go to Washington DC to see the memorials that they were a part of. For many veterans, this trip has been one of the most memorable days of their lives! Mark Schoenemann was a recipient of the May 18 flight to DC and his son, Joseph, was his guardian, who is also a veteran that deployed twice to the Middle East. Vermont Lutheran Church was graciously donated playground equipment in honor of Knute and Esther Nelson and by the Aaron and Rita Tigert Family. The dedication and blessing were held on Sept. 15 after service. Photo contributed.

Joe Bomkamp has taken responsibility for ensuring that the flags on Mills St. in Black Earth hang straight and proud. Every light pole on Mills Street displays the flag. A plaque is placed on the pole designating the donor and request for which it was donated. Additional plaques will be attached to the Cannon in the park with donor information. Funding of the “Flags on Mills Street” project will provide new flags as needed in helping the residents of Black Earth show their patriotic spirit. Photo contributed.

Edward Jones financial advisor Laurie Dischler, moved from her Water Street location to 2000 Prairie Street, Prairie du Sac, WI. She held a ribbon cutting ceremony surrounded by the Sauk Prairie Chamber members, friends, neighbors and family. In 2017, Dischler joined the Edward Jones team of advisors serving the greater Sauk Prairie area. Dischler initially worked from the first Sauk City office of Edward Jones. That early office was started over 25 years ago in the historic train depot in Sauk City and has served clients by three advisors. Those predecessors, Joe LaCour and Peter van der Hagen, continue to serve as advisors for Edward Jones in other offices in the community. Photo contributed.
