Dane County Sheriff’s Office Community Deputy Rich Bennett will be presenting a community education night to prevent future victims of fraud and scams. It will be held at the Mazomanie police department, 133 Crescent St., Mazomanie, on Oct. 23, 2019 from 6-6:45 p.m.

Dischler, Edward Jones advisor, moves to new location


Edward Jones financial advisor Laurie Dischler, moved from her Water Street location to 2000 Prairie Street, Prairie du Sac, WI. She held a ribbon cutting ceremony surrounded by the Sauk Prairie Chamber members, friends, neighbors and family. In 2017, Dischler joined the Edward Jones team of advisors serving the greater Sauk Prairie area. Dischler initially worked from the first Sauk City office of Edward Jones. That early office was started over 25 years ago in the historic train depot in Sauk City and has served clients by three advisors. Those predecessors, Joe LaCour and Peter van der Hagen, continue to serve as advisors for Edward Jones in other offices in the community. Photo contributed.

Prairie du Sac class of ‘52 holds reunion


The Prairie du Sac High School Class of 1952 held their 67th Anniversary Reunion on Saturday, Sept. 7th 2019 at the Sauk City Family Restaurant. Greater Sauk Community Foundation donates towards SP high school Day of Service II

The Greater Sauk Community Foundation is providing major support for Sauk Prairie High School’s “Day of Service II” next month with a $4,500 grant check delivered last week. Sauk Prairie High School students and staff will collectively give thousands of volunteer hours to the community October 16.

Paul and Shirley (Pickarts) were married September 6th 1969, at St. Aloysius church in Sauk City. They have two daughters, Theresa (Ted) Hetzel and Betty (Bruce) Lauer and one step grandson Rob (Chloe) Lauer and two step great grandchildren Josie and Kerry Lauer. They celebrate with family on September 22nd at Rex’s Innkeeper Waunakee.

Wisconsin Hometown Stories featuring Sauk Prairie to be screened September 24th

The premier screening of the Wisconsin Public TV documentary series that features the Sauk Prairie area, ‘Wisconsin Hometown Stories,’ will be held at the River Arts center on Sept. 24 from 6:30-8 p.m. The event is hosted by the Sauk Prairie Conservation Alliance, which helped with the program.

Punt, Pass, Kick on September 22nd

On Sunday September 22 at 4 p.m. (the Packers Play at noon) the Knights of Columbus will be holding the annual Punt, Pass and Kick contest at St. Al’s field (608 Oak Street). Boys and girls ages 8-12 (age as of September 1) are invited to participate in the contest with the 1st place winner in each group moving on to the Diocesan contest.

Sauk Prairie VFW Honor Guard raises flag at Tower Rock for first day of school


Sauk Prairie Veterans of Foreign of Wars Lachmund-Cramer Post 7694 Honor Guard conducts flag raising ceremony at Tower Rock Elementary School on Tuesday, September 3, the first day of school at the Sauk Prairie School District. All of the six grades of Tower Rock students and staff lead by principal Ms. Kelly Petrowski were assembled in the lunch room due to the inclement weather. VFW members Vincent Formosa, furthest veteran, flag holder Lon Kaderavek and Jim Keys, listen as the students sing the National Anthem after the symbolic raising of the American Flag. VFW member Matthew Joyce played “Hail to the Colors,” on his bugle during the symbolic flag raising. Sauk Prairie School District superintendent Jeff Wright was present and earlier when the first graders at Bridges Element School were outside and witnessed the flag raising ceremony in more favorable weather.

Schultz earns pilot’s wings

2LT Stephen R. D. Schultz has received his pilot’s wings during Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training Graduation Ceremony held on July 26 at Vance Air Force Base, Enid, Oklahoma. Col. Richard Tanner, 22nd Air Refueling Wing commander from McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas, was the graduation speaker for the ceremony.
