Mazomanie changes snowmobile route, transfers liquor license

Snowmobile routes and liquor licenses were the topics of discussion at the village of Mazomanie’s Dec. 10 meeting.

Prairie du Sac purchases truck

The Village of Prairie Du Sac board approved the purchase of a new public works truck at the Dec. 9 meeting. The truck being purchased is a 2019 Ram 5500 Regular Cab at a cost of $50,395 from Kayser. This truck will be replacing two current public works trucks after the winter season is completed.

Prairie du Sac honors Firefighters and Eagle Scout

Black Earth Village President to resign

Black Earth Village President Pat Troge will resign effective Jan. 1st from office. He has accepted an expanded role with his current employer.

Troge’s first official meeting as a village trustee was on May 3, 2005. In 2009, Troge took over as Village President from Vern Wendt.

Misunderstandings and lawyers reveal rift between Village of Black Earth and Library

The cutting of a line item from the Black Earth Public Library’s board by the village was front and center at the Dec. 4 board meeting. According to Village Administrator Shellie Benish, it was due to a misunderstanding.

Village of Mazo approves budget

The Village of Mazomanie passed the 2020 municipal budget at its meeting on Nov. 26. Despite increased costs due to last year’s flood, taxes will increase by only 1.6%. A $100,000 home will see an $11 tax increase from the year before.

Arena 2020 budget increases by $36,000, 9 % increase

Before the December Arena Village Board meeting, the personal and finance committees met, followed by the annual budget hearing.

Sauk County passes $30.5 million 2020 budget

Following a nearly five-hour long meeting, the Sauk County Board of Supervisors settled on a budget of nearly $30.5 million.

The 2020 budget was passed during the board’s annual meeting last month.

Sauk City passes wheel tax

Sauk City residents will be responsible for paying a $20 fee for owning and operating a registered vehicle once the village’s wheel tax is implemented mid 2020.

Village of Black Earth balances 2020 budget by cutting expenditures

Faced with the difficulties of levy limits and increasing costs, the Village of Black Earth balanced their 2020 budget with cuts to public works, emergency management, and the replacement of the village hall roof. The cuts will be balanced out by borrowing for those items.
