Vehicle purchases are proposed in each of the village’s three public safety departments’ 2020 budgets.

At Sauk City’s Oct. 8 Village Board meeting, resident Tracy Haselwander asked why there were no e-mails listed for Trustees on the website. “I feel bad hunting people down in the grocery store,” she said.

The question of whether to institute a wheel tax dominated discussion at the Sauk City Village Board meeting on October 8. Village president Jim Anderson put the topic on the agenda and opened his remarks with the following: “Every year that we do the budget, we’re short on money.”

The Village of Mazomanie, facing decreased revenue in 2020 because of last year’s flood damage, is reducing its police force from three to two officers. “Mazomanie will be cutting the dayshift position from the contract.

The Village Board of Black Earth approved expanded parking for the Community Park project at their Oct. 2 meeting. 13 spaces will be added for a cost of $25,500. The original vote for the project was for $750,000. The board then decided to look into expanding parking.

The Arena Village Board held a meeting last Sunday afternoon to solve problems plaguing the village and set future events back on an even keel.  The only board member who was unable to attend the weekend meeting was Jessica Voight.

The 2020 budget was a main topic of discussion at the Mazomanie board meeting on Sept. 24.

Prairie du Sac Village administrator Alan Wildman said there wasn’t a lot of change from 2019 to 2020 with the public works and utilities portion of the village’s annual budget, but one line item in the village’s general administrative budget stood out for showing a 400 percent increase over last year: computer system maintenance.

The George Culver Community Library will get a new facelift after the Sauk City Village board approved the financing for the renovations at the board meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019.

A new voting machine and additional election inspectors are on the horizon for the Town of Vermont.

At the town’s monthly meeting in September, town clerk Katie Zelle and town chair Karen Carlock led the board through a listing of initial expenditures predicted for the 2020 annual operating budget.
