Prairie du Sac approves new curfew ordinance

The Village of Prairie du Sac updated their curfew ordinance at their August 11 meeting. Board member Abby Howell-Dinger, who had opposed the ordinance, was the only “no” vote.

Nearly two years after the devastating flood, the Village of Mazomanie is finally getting a solid picture of what properties will be covered by FEMA. The news came on the evening of July 27, and village administrator Peter Huebner spent the following few days in meetings to learn about the options.

Prairie du Sac board member objects to curfew ordinance

A Prairie du Sac board member finds herself alone in opposing the village’s curfew ordinance. The remaining board members find the ordinance to be a useful tool, while Abby Howell-Dinger said she had “a lot of red flags going on in [her] head” when she first saw it.

Arena Police Department plans move

The Arena Village Board met at the village hall in July after creating safe distancing space within the room.  All board members attended. Trustee Tara Hill via teleconference.

Black Earth residents get to weigh in on water treatment options

The fall election may bring a toothy smile to Black Earth residents as they will have a chance to weigh in on the village’s use of fluoride. The advisory referendum, which will be preceded by information about the fluoridation of water from the village, will help them decide whether or not to continue the application.

Local Dane County board member meets constituents


Michele Doolan, Dane County Supervisor for District 28, held a virtual introduction and listening session on July 10 on YouTube. Doolan’s district includes Mazomanie, Cross Plains, Black Earth, Town of Berry, Town of Cross Plains, Town of Vermont, and Blue Mounds. In the 37 minute session, Doolan gave an introduction of herself, explained the services Dane County provides, and a very brief overview of the legislative process. She then took questions for about 15 minutes.

Prairie du Sac ties up 150 year old loose ends concerning parcels

At the June 23 meeting, Prairie du Sac Village President Cheryl Sherman and the rest of the board congratulated Village Administrator Alan Wildman on his work to clear up easements, deeds, and parcels on lands bordering the town of Prairie du Sac. The mostly administrative work took close to ten years to straighten out.

Sauk City looks to refinance existing debt

Sauk City is looking to refinance its debt to put itself and taxpayers in a better position moving forward. The refinance was discussed at their June 20 meeting.
