Sauk City gives approval to 6:8 rezoning

The Sauk City Village Board voted to allow 6:8 to rezone its property from general industry to limited industry. This will allow 6:8 to build an addition onto a structure on their property, as the setbacks are relaxed with the new zoning. In other rezoning news, the board elected to postpone another rezoning request at 431 Water Street.

Prairie du Sac looking for a new board member

The Village of Prairie du Sac is looking for a new board member, after former member Abby Dinger-Zach recently moved out of the village boundaries. Village President Cheryl Sherman recommended those interested in finishing Dinger-Zach’s term, which expires in April 2023, contact the village in writing.

Mazo hears update on Municipal Court

Judge Isaiah Crowe from the Mazomanie/Black Earth Joint Municipal Court updated the Mazomanie Village Board at their last meeting and a break of a few years. He spoke about when the municipal court started. 

“Court has changed a lot in those years [since 2013],” said Crowe.

Sauk City to allow ATV/UTVs on village streets, Prairie du Sac considering it

ATV/UTV users will eventually be able to ride on all Sauk City streets, and for the first time Prairie du Sac is considering them. The Prairie du Sac board discussed ATV/UTVs at their last meeting and after about 15 minutes of discussion, it was decided that the Code Committee would first take up the matter.

Arena residents to see referendum on funding for hiring EMTs

Arena voters will see a referendum question on the ballots in the November 8 election to whether or not to exceed levy limit for hiring Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to staff the service, Arena Village Board decided at the board meeting in September.

Black Earth Board hears about Library’s space needs

The Black Earth Village Board elected to split ARPA funds in the amount of $120,000 50/50 between the Parks Committee and Public Works. Along with other funds, Public Works will use their share of the funds to purchase a combination sewer jetter. The village’s current jetter does not work well.

Village of Arena decides to move welcome sign into WisDOT right-of-way

An agreement to move the Arena welcome sign has been reached. The sign, located at the Arena Cemetery,  currently encroaches about three feet onto cemetery property from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Right of Way (ROW).

Village of Arena sorts out who mows cemetery, if Welcome sign can stay

A question of who should be mowing at the Arena cemetery, first asked in June, resulted in an agreement by the Arena Village Board to have the “Welcome to Arena” sign, which is located on cemetery property, and the unplotted area of the cemetery taken care of by the public works department.

Sauk City moving forward with $1.4 million Village Hall remodel

The Sauk City Village Board ticked several items off its to-do list at their last meeting. They finalized allowing ATV/UTVs on select village streets with the approval of a signage agreement, approved the agreement for remodeling the village hall, and discussed food trucks in the village.
