Softball Eagles in a funk

Sauk Prairie’s softball team is in a mini-slide.

And with the postseason less than three weeks away, there’s no time like the present for the Eagles to get back on track.

Sauk Prairie won its first two games last week — a 3-0 victory at Portage on April 25 and a 5-2 win at Baraboo on April 26.

Eagles’ baseball team wins three straight

It was a quite a week for Sauk Prairie’s baseball team.

The Eagles defeated visiting Baraboo, 7-3, on April 26. Sauk Prairie then went to Baraboo and notched a 6-3 win on April 28.

The Eagles finished off their big week with a 9-0 win over Lodi last Friday.

Sauk Prairie’s boys tennis team drops three matches

Sauk Prairie’s boys tennis team dropped three matches last week.

McFarland toppled the Eagles, 7-0, on April 25. Sauk Prairie fell, 7-0, to Madison Edgewood on April 28 and 5-2 to Madison East on April 29.

Heights girls softball team has rough week

It was a rough week for Wisconsin Heights’ girls softball team.

The Vanguards dropped a 26-0 decision to visiting Waterloo on April 26. Cambridge then swept a doubleheader from Heights, 12-0 and 8-0, on April 28.

The Pirates are the best team in the Capitol Conference and showed just that against the Vanguards.

Baseball Vanguards win two out of three

Wisconsin Heights’ baseball team won two of three games last week.

The Vanguards fell to Waterloo, 7-3, on April 26.

Heights rebounded to defeat Cambridge, 9-0, on April 28, then edged Fennimore, 8-7, last Saturday.

The Vanguards are now 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the Capitol South Conference.

The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld girls soccer team posted its first win of the season on April 28, a 5-4 victory over Madison Country Day School.

The Vanguards also dropped a 3-1 game to Columbus on April 26 and are now 1-4-2 on the season.


Sauk Prairie girls track and field team finished in third place at the Baraboo Relays held April 29.

Reedsburg won the nine-team event with 107 points, while Columbus (96), Sauk Prairie (92), Baraboo (89) and Richland Center (49) rounded out the top five.

Sauk Prairie’s boys finished in sixth place.

How about those Eagles?

MOUNT HOREB – It was another cold, winter-like evening for soccer with a run on hot chocolate at the concession stand.

But the Sauk Prairie Eagles were just warming up when they took a one-goal lead into halftime against the rival Mount Horeb Vikings on April 26.

Soccer Vanguards lose, draw

The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld girls soccer team notched a tie and a loss last week.

The Vanguards and River Valley played to a 1-1 tie on April 19. Watertown Luther Prep then toppled Heights/Barneveld, 2-0, on April 21.

Wisconsin Heights’ girls softball team fell to Marshall, 12-0, on April 21. The Vanguards also dropped a 4-3 decision to Fennimore.

In the Vanguards’ loss to Fennimore, Heights fell behind 3-0 after two innings. But the Vanguards never stopped battling.

Heights scored in both the fifth and seventh innings, but came up short.
