Sacramento is pushing Roseville Road to 231 tiny homes in its latest homelessness housing expansion

Published on

Sacramento, California – Sacramento is getting closer to opening dozens of additional tiny homes for people experiencing homelessness. The latest construction update brings encouraging news for a city continuing to expand its temporary housing options.

And the numbers tell an important part of the story. Once the newest units are completed, the Roseville Road Service Campus will have 231 tiny homes, giving Sacramento more space to provide interim housing and supportive services to people who need them.

The City of Sacramento announced that construction is nearing completion on 35 additional tiny homes at the Roseville Road Service Campus. The expansion is expected to be finished by the end of 2026, marking another step in the city’s ongoing response to homelessness.

The new homes are being built on the north side of the campus, which will reach its planned capacity of 135 units once construction is complete.

Across the entire property, the total number of tiny homes will increase from 196 to 231. That represents an increase of approximately 18 percent in the campus’s overall housing capacity.

While the additional units will expand the number of available places for temporary shelter, the project is about more than simply adding structures.

According to the city, individuals experiencing homelessness who receive interim housing at the campus will also have access to supportive services provided on-site.

This combination of temporary accommodation and services is part of Sacramento’s broader effort to address homelessness through dedicated housing facilities.

The latest expansion also represents progress toward completing the north side of the Roseville Road campus as originally planned.

With 35 more homes nearing completion, that section of the property is approaching its intended capacity. The campus as a whole will have room for additional individuals experiencing homelessness once the construction work is finished and the new units become available.

City officials have not provided a specific opening date for the additional homes beyond the anticipated construction completion by the end of the year.

The announcement comes as Sacramento continues working on its comprehensive response to homelessness, which includes efforts to provide temporary housing and connect people with services.

For the Roseville Road Service Campus, the next milestone is straightforward: finish construction and increase the number of available interim housing units.

The additional 35 tiny homes will bring the campus to 231 units, expanding its capacity while maintaining access to on-site support.
