Sacramento, California – A quiet afternoon at a local mobile home community was abruptly shattered when reports of gunfire triggered a swift emergency response.
Around midday on March 24, 2026, multiple 9-1-1 calls alerted authorities to a possible shooting at Sunshine Mobile Village on Main Avenue, prompting North Patrol deputies to head to the scene.
As deputies made their way to the location, callers provided additional details, indicating that two individuals had been shot.
Information coming in also suggested that the suspected gunman resided within the community and had retreated back into his trailer after the incident. The situation quickly escalated into a high-risk response, with officers working to secure the area while assessing the safety of those involved.
Upon arrival, deputies moved carefully toward the suspect’s residence, attempting to locate and reach the victims.
Support soon arrived in the form of an armored BearCat vehicle from the Folsom Police Department, which allowed law enforcement to approach the trailer with added protection. Using this equipment, officers and deputies were able to safely extract two victims from the scene.
One of the victims, an adult woman, was pronounced dead at the location. The second victim, an adult man, was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities detained the suspect, identified as 58-year-old John Clarke, without incident outside the trailer. He was taken into custody and later booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. Clarke now faces two counts of murder and is being held without the possibility of bail.
Officials confirmed that the identities of the victims will be released by the Coroner’s Office following proper notification of their families. The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement continues to gather details surrounding the events that led to the deadly incident.
