Sacramento, California – A deadly shooting investigation is underway in Sacramento County after an early-morning call sent deputies to a Motel 6 on Elsie Avenue.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said that the call came into the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center at about 1:30 a.m. on June 9, 2026. The message was brief and urgent: someone had been shot inside the lobby of the Motel 6 located at 7407 Elsie Ave. Deputies were dispatched to the business and arrived to find a 21-year-old man in the lobby with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Deputies moved quickly. They began life-saving measures at the scene and requested assistance from the Fire Department. Fire personnel arrived soon after, but the victim could not be saved. He was pronounced deceased at the motel.
The suspect had already fled before deputies reached the location, according to the Sheriff’s Office. No additional details about the suspect were released in the provided information.
