Sacramento, California – For families who want Halloween fun without the price tag, or the nightmare fuel, North Sacramento has an easy Tuesday-night option before Oct. 31. Costumes, candy and carnival games are coming together at Hagginwood Community Center, with a silent disco adding a different beat to this year’s celebration.
Del Paso Frights returns Tuesday, Oct. 27, offering a free evening built around younger children, families and neighborhood fun. The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Joe Mims Jr. Hagginwood Community Center, 3271 Marysville Blvd.
Hosted by the City of Sacramento’s Youth, Parks & Community Enrichment department, the all-ages event will feature a spooky carnival, candy bags, popcorn, crafts and a silent disco. Families are encouraged to arrive in costume and bring a bucket for treats.

Unlike larger commercial Halloween attractions, Del Paso Frights is not designed as a haunted house. The focus is on games, music and candy rather than jump-scares, making it a more relaxed option for families with younger children.
The silent disco is one of the newer additions. Last year’s neighborhood celebration centered on indoor trick-or-treating, games, music and other Halloween activities. This year’s event materials highlight the disco alongside carnival games, treat bags and crafts.
Admission is free, and no registration or ticket requirement is listed. Organizers are also accepting sealed bags of candy from people who want to help provide more treats for participating children.
The Hagginwood Community Center serves the Hagginwood and Del Paso Heights area near Marysville and Del Paso boulevards. The facility includes an auditorium and stage, meeting space, a warming kitchen, outdoor basketball facilities and a play structure. Parking is available at the center and along nearby streets.
The timing gives local families another Halloween outing just four days before Halloween itself, which falls on Saturday, Oct. 31, in 2026. Last year’s Del Paso Frights ran until 8 p.m., although this year’s provided event information lists only the 6 p.m. start time.
Families who attend can bring costumes, candy buckets and, if they choose, sealed candy donations.
