Sacramento, California – Keeping pets healthy can come with plenty of expenses, but Sacramento residents will have an opportunity this weekend to get several important services for their dogs and cats without spending a dollar.
From vaccinations to microchips and pet licenses, a free community clinic in North Natomas will bring multiple services together in one location. No appointment is required, making it easier for pet owners to stop by and take advantage of the offer.
The Front Street Animal Shelter will host its upcoming Community Pet Clinic on Sunday, October 11, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the North Natomas Community Center, located at 2631 New Market Drive in Sacramento’s District 1.
The clinic is open to both dogs and cats, with several free services available depending on the animal’s age and eligibility.
Dog owners can receive free DHPP vaccinations for pets that are at least eight weeks old. Cats of the same minimum age can receive FVRCP vaccines. Rabies vaccinations will also be offered for both dogs and cats, although animals must be at least 16 weeks old to qualify.
Beyond vaccinations, the event will provide free microchips, including registration with a national registry. This service gives pet owners another way to identify their animals if they become lost.
Pet licensing is also part of the event. Eligible owners obtaining their first City of Sacramento pet license can receive a free one-year license. Those whose pets do not qualify for the free option will still have an opportunity to purchase a license at the clinic.
Organizers have outlined several important instructions for residents planning to attend.
The event will operate as a walk-up clinic rather than a drive-thru service. Free parking will be available in front of the North Natomas Community Center.
Dogs must remain on leashes, while cats must be secured in carriers. Pet owners should also plan their arrival carefully because walk-ups will not be accepted after 10:30 a.m., even though the clinic is scheduled to continue until 11 a.m.
Vaccinations and microchips will be provided only while supplies last and time allows.
The community clinic is part of a monthly effort made possible with support from Petco Love, which helps Front Street Animal Shelter bring these services to Sacramento pet owners.
For residents whose pets need vaccinations, identification or licensing, Sunday’s event offers a chance to address several needs during a single visit, with no advance appointment necessary.
