Sacramento, California – Sacramento skaters will soon have more opportunities to hit the ramps, practice their tricks and spend time at one of the city’s skate parks. Before the expanded public skating schedule begins, everyone is invited to enjoy an afternoon of free skating.
The City of Sacramento is opening the doors to 28th & B Skate Park for a special community event on Sunday, November 1, bringing together local skaters, food trucks and city representatives for four hours of activities.
The **28th & B Skate Park Open House** will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 20 28th St., inside Sutter’s Landing Regional Park. Admission is free, and visitors do not need to register in advance.
The event also marks an important step in the city’s efforts to make the skate park more accessible to the public.
Sacramento’s Department of Youth, Parks, and Community Enrichment is partnering with Rob Skate Academy to introduce dedicated public skating hours beginning November 4.
During the open house, visitors can meet representatives from Rob Skate Academy, learn about upcoming programs and explore membership options. Councilmember Phil Pluckebaum will also join the event, which will feature community resources and food trucks.
Once the new schedule begins, the park will offer public skating Wednesday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Weekend hours will run Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
**Monthly memberships start at $25**, providing unlimited park entry during designated public hours. A $95 premium membership includes unlimited access to the park and unlimited Rob Skate Academy classes.
Financial assistance is available through a sliding-scale payment option. Residents seeking reduced fees can contact Rob Skate Academy at [email protected] or (510) 894-5303.
Registration is available through Rob Skate Academy’s website and in-person sign-ups will be offered during public skating hours. Cash payments are not currently accepted.
The facility welcomes skateboards, scooters, rollerblades and roller skates. Bicycles, unicycles and motorized riding equipment are prohibited.
Beyond the expanded hours, additional changes are being planned for the location. Sacramento is working with California Skateparks on a redesign of the facility, with details about an upcoming community meeting expected to be announced.
For now, the November 1 open house gives residents an opportunity to enjoy the park for free, meet fellow skaters and learn how they can take advantage of the expanded skating schedule throughout the month.
