Sacramento, California – For one morning in North Natomas, a familiar Sacramento park will become more than a place for weekend recreation. It will serve as a gathering point for residents walking and running in support of people affected by prostate cancer.
Sacramento Councilmember Lisa Kaplan is inviting residents to take part in the Sacramento ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk on Sunday, Sept. 27, at North Natomas Regional Park. The event is part of a broader nationwide effort that brings communities together to raise money for prostate cancer research while supporting patients and their families.
Registration at the park is scheduled to open at 7:30 a.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 8:30 a.m. ZERO Prostate Cancer lists the Sacramento Run/Walk for 9 a.m. at North Natomas Regional Park, 2501 New Market Drive.
Residents can participate by running or walking, giving people of different ages and fitness levels a way to join the event. The Sacramento gathering is one of a series of ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk events being held in communities across the country.
The organization says its events are designed to bring together patients, survivors, caregivers, families and supporters while raising awareness and helping improve the lives of people affected by prostate cancer. September is also Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, with ZERO organizing community events, educational programs and Run/Walks throughout the month.
According to information shared about the Sacramento event, similar efforts held across hundreds of communities have raised millions of dollars toward prostate cancer research while providing support for patients and families.
