District 8 prepares to gather around community pride at Sacramento’s annual neighborhood address

Published on

Sacramento, California – Sacramento residents in District 8 are being invited to gather later this month for a community event built around reflection, planning and local pride.

Registration is now open for the 2026 State of District 8, scheduled for Saturday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to noon at Pannell Community Center. This year’s theme, “Community Is Our Power,” points directly to the people the event is meant to celebrate: the residents, families, business owners, educators, artists, organizations and young leaders who help shape the district every day.

The annual State of District 8 serves as both a look back and a look forward. It gives the community a chance to pause and recognize what has been accomplished, while also hearing more about what is ahead for the district. For many who attend, it is more than a formal update. It is a neighborhood gathering, a civic check-in and a reminder that local progress often begins with the people who show up, speak up and work together.

The event will be held at Pannell Community Center, a familiar community space in Sacramento that has long been tied to local programs, services and neighborhood activity. Organizers are asking those who plan to attend to register in advance at heartandhustle.org/SOD8.

Along with the upcoming district gathering, residents are also being reminded that the deadline for the 2026 Heart & Hustle Scholarship has been extended to June 8. The scholarship offers up to $1,000 in funding, giving eligible applicants additional time to submit their materials and seek support for their educational goals.

Together, the State of District 8 and the Heart & Hustle Scholarship highlight a shared focus on community strength, opportunity and the next generation. The June 28 event is expected to bring together people from across the district for a morning centered on connection, recognition and the work still ahead.

Registration is requested for attendance at heartandhustle.org.
