Sacramento, California – A deadly stabbing in Sacramento County began with a 911 call in the dark, early hours of Saturday morning and ended with a homicide arrest inside a police perimeter.
At about 2:30 a.m. on June 13, 2026, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a report of a stabbing in the 1900 block of Ethan Way, an area near Arden Arcade. Deputies were sent to the scene and, once inside a residence, found a 51-year-old man suffering from an apparent stab wound.
The response quickly shifted from a call for help to a fight to save a life. Deputies requested emergency medical aid and immediately began giving medical attention to the victim. Fire personnel later arrived at the home and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
By then, investigators believed the suspect had already run from the area on foot just before deputies arrived. Law enforcement moved quickly to contain the surrounding area. A perimeter was established, and a Sacramento Sheriff’s K9 team began tracking the person believed to be involved.
Inside that perimeter, deputies located 37-year-old Jaleisa Ellison. She was detained without incident.
As the scene was secured, Crime Scene Investigators and homicide detectives arrived to begin the careful work that follows a violent death. They processed the residence, gathered evidence and continued the investigation into what happened before the 911 call was made. Through that work, Ellison was identified as the suspect, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Ellison was later booked into the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Main Jail on murder charges. Jail records and the Sheriff’s Office said she is currently ineligible for bail. Her first scheduled court appearance is set for June 16, 2026, at 1:30 p.m.
The victim’s name has not yet been released. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is expected to identify him according to its policy after next-of-kin notifications are completed.
The investigation remains in the hands of homicide detectives as Sacramento County authorities continue piecing together the events that led to the fatal stabbing on Ethan Way.
