Sacramento, California – A death discovered inside a North Highlands home in early September has led to three arrests, with Sacramento County detectives identifying suspects more than a month after a family member made the disturbing discovery.
What began as an early morning call to authorities has now developed into a homicide case involving murder and conspiracy charges, six search locations and an operation extending across multiple California communities.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began on Sunday, September 6, 2026, when its Communications Center received a call from a residence in the 3700 block of Lenore Way in North Highlands.
The caller reported finding an adult male family member deceased inside the home. Deputies responded to the address and determined that the death was a homicide, prompting a response from crime scene investigators and homicide detectives.
The discovery marked the beginning of an investigation that would continue for several weeks.
As detectives examined the case, they eventually identified three men suspected of involvement in the killing. Authorities named them as 38-year-old Alfredo Garcia, 45-year-old Federico Farfan and 37-year-old Hector Medina.
Following their investigation, detectives obtained arrest warrants for all three suspects on murder and conspiracy charges.
The case reached a significant turning point on Thursday, October 8, when detectives carried out search warrants at six different locations across Sacramento County, Modesto and Tulare County.
The operation resulted in all three suspects being taken into custody, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Garcia, Farfan and Medina were subsequently transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where they were booked on the charges. Authorities confirmed that all three remain ineligible for bail.
The arrests represent a major development in a case that began with a family member finding a man dead inside a North Highlands residence.
However, the Sheriff’s Office’s update did not identify the victim or provide additional information about the circumstances surrounding the killing. Investigators also did not disclose a possible motive or explain what evidence led them to identify the three suspects.
For now, all three men remain in custody as the case moves forward. The murder and conspiracy charges are allegations, and the suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
