Sacramento, California – A deadly hit-and-run crash on Florin Road is under investigation after Sacramento police said a woman was found critically injured in the street and later died at the scene.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers were called to the 1500 block of Florin Road shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, after reports of a two-vehicle collision. When they arrived, they found one of the drivers, an adult woman, down in the roadway with life-threatening injuries.

Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures, but fire personnel pronounced her dead at the scene. Police said the other vehicle involved had already left the area before officers arrived, turning the case into a fatal hit-and-run investigation.

Because of the seriousness of the crash, detectives from the department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Investigators were called in to take over. Investigators processed the scene, spoke with witnesses, and canvassed the surrounding area as they worked to piece together what happened in the moments before the collision.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the woman who died. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will identify her after relatives have been notified.

For now, many of the key details remain unanswered, including what led to the crash and where the fleeing driver went after leaving the scene. Police said the investigation is still active.

Anyone who saw the collision or has information that could help investigators is being urged to come forward. The Sacramento Police Department asks witnesses to contact its dispatch center at (916) 808-5471.
