Sacramento job seekers can lay bricks, use power tools and meet union professionals at massive career fair on Nov. 6

Sacramento, California – A Sacramento park will turn into a hands-on career hub this November, giving job seekers a chance to do more than simply pick up brochures or listen to presentations.

The Sacramento-Sierra Building and Construction Trades Council is bringing its “Taking It To the Streets” Union Trades Career Fair + Block Party to Natomas Regional Park on Friday, November 6, combining career exploration with live demonstrations, food, music and community activities.

The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will connect attendees with more than 28 local construction union trades. Organizers say visitors will be able to meet directly with industry professionals, learn about different career paths and get a closer look at the type of work performed across the skilled trades.

A major part of the event will be its hands-on format. Attendees will have opportunities to try activities such as laying bricks and using power tools, offering a practical introduction to work that is often difficult to understand from a job description alone.

The career fair will also extend beyond construction unions. Employers and organizations representing public utilities, government agencies and community groups are expected to participate, along with partners from energy, healthcare, education and other industries.

That broad mix gives the event a wider purpose than a traditional construction job fair. Someone interested in a union trade may be able to speak directly with people working in the field, while other visitors can explore opportunities connected to industries that support Sacramento’s workforce and infrastructure.

Organizers are also building a block party around the career component. Music, free food, giveaways and community resources are planned throughout the event, creating a more informal setting for attendees to learn, ask questions and connect with participating organizations.

The “Taking It To the Streets” Union Trades Career Fair + Block Party will take place Friday, November 6, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Natomas Regional Park in Sacramento. The event is being hosted by the Sacramento-Sierra Building and Construction Trades Council.
