Sacramento, California – More than a year after a 4-month-old child was rushed from a Sacramento fire station to a hospital, a homicide investigation has led to an arrest.
Sacramento police announced Wednesday, August 26, that 22-year-old Victor Weaver of Sacramento was taken into custody after detectives identified him as the suspect and obtained a homicide arrest warrant.
The case began on the morning of August 14, 2025. Just after 9 a.m., Sacramento Police Department officers were called after an unresponsive 4-month-old was brought to a fire station from a home in the 1700 block of West El Camino Avenue.
The infant was transported to an area hospital as emergency crews attempted to save the child. Despite those lifesaving efforts, the juvenile was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the death prompted a deeper investigation. Sacramento Police homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators assumed control of the case, processing the scene, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
The investigation continued beyond the initial police response. Following what authorities described as a comprehensive investigation by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, the child’s death was determined to be a homicide.
Detectives ultimately identified Weaver as the suspect. More than a year after the child’s death, officers arrested him on August 25, 2026. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on the homicide warrant.
Police did not provide additional details in the August 26 release about what investigators believe happened before the infant was brought to the fire station. Authorities also did not disclose further information about the evidence that led detectives to identify Weaver as the suspect.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is responsible for releasing the identity of the deceased after notification of next of kin.
