Sacramento, California – Sacramento’s District 1 is being asked to save a summer Friday for something louder than a meeting and warmer than a city notice: music, food, culture and neighbors in one park.
Councilmember Lisa Kaplan is inviting residents to the 4th Annual Latino/Chicano Celebration on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at North Natomas Regional Park, 2501 New Market Drive. The free, family-friendly event is part of Kaplan’s summer series of cultural celebrations in District 1, which includes North Natomas and Robla, a fast-growing part of Sacramento with roughly 66,000 residents.
Kaplan’s message on Facebook was simple and direct: “Mark your calendars for the 4th Annual Latino / Chicano Celebration for District 1. Join Team Kaplan for a night of music – food – culture and community. See you there.”
The theme is clear: “Unity in diversity, strength in culture.” And the night is built around that idea. Residents can expect live music, cultural performances, food vendors, local booths and a park full of families, friends and neighbors.
Maya Latin Roots is scheduled to perform, continuing a connection to the event from prior years. Aztec dancers and other cultural showcases are also expected to bring movement, color and tradition into the evening.
This is not a one-off gathering. The Latino/Chicano Celebration has become part of District 1’s summer rhythm. In 2025, the event was also held at North Natomas Regional Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with performers, local vendors, speakers and community organizations invited to take part.
This year’s celebration follows the June 12 Juneteenth Celebration and comes before the AAPI Celebration planned for August 7, creating a three-event summer series centered on culture and community.
The celebration is presented by Councilmember Kaplan, who has represented Sacramento City Council District 1 since 2022. Yolo Federal Credit Union is listed as the title sponsor.
For residents, the invitation is easy: show up. No tickets are required. For vendors, food trucks, performers or volunteers hoping to get involved, Kaplan’s office is directing questions to [email protected]. The larger message is just as simple. District 1 is still growing, still changing and still building its identity. On July 10, that identity will sound like music in the park.
