Sacramento, California – For Sacramento bars, restaurants and nightlife operators, a strong social media post can do more than collect likes. It can put a business in front of new customers, strengthen its identity and turn online attention into real-world visits.
That connection between digital visibility and business growth will be the focus of Sacramento’s next free “Taking Care of Business” workshop, scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 13.
The City of Sacramento’s Office of Nighttime Economy will host the two-hour session from 2 to 4 p.m. at 300 Richards Blvd., Room 221. The workshop is designed specifically for hospitality and nightlife businesses looking for practical ways to improve marketing, create stronger content and connect with customers through social media.
Leading the session will be Wendy Aguilar, a media and communications specialist with the Sacramento Fire Department. Aguilar received the 2026 Social Media Leadership Award in recognition of her innovative digital strategies, creative campaigns and leadership in communications.

Her presentation will cover several areas businesses deal with every day: building a recognizable brand, producing useful and engaging content, improving social media strategy and reaching new audiences. Participants also will receive ideas for refreshing their broader marketing approach rather than treating social platforms as standalone tools.
“Strong marketing and meaningful community engagement can help businesses reach customers and build lasting relationships,” Nighttime Economy Manager Tina Lee-Vogt said.
“This workshop will provide participants with practical tools they can use to strengthen their presence and grow their business.”
The event is part of the Office of Nighttime Economy’s broader effort to give Sacramento’s hospitality sector easier access to information and City resources.
The office launched the “Taking Care of Business” program earlier this year, creating a series of training sessions aimed at helping hospitality and nightlife operators run safer and more successful businesses. Workshops connect owners and operators with industry professionals and City staff while addressing subjects that can affect everyday operations.
Businesses looking for more individualized assistance also can receive support, guidance and connections to City services through Sacramento’s Business Solutions Center.
Attendance at the Aug. 13 marketing workshop is free, and free parking will be available at the Richards Boulevard location. Snacks and light refreshments also will be provided.
Because space is limited, businesses are encouraged to register in advance. Questions and RSVP requests can be sent to [email protected].
The Office of Nighttime Economy plans to continue offering training opportunities covering resources and information relevant to Sacramento’s hospitality and nighttime businesses. Details about future sessions are available through the City of Sacramento’s website.
