Sacramento, California – A Sacramento school campus will turn into a two-part community gathering this September, starting with health resources and local connections before shifting into an evening movie under the same event.
Families are being invited to spend four hours at Valley High School, where a community health fair will lead directly into a movie night designed to bring neighbors together in a relaxed setting.
The Health Education Council and Sacramento City Councilmember Mai Vang are hosting the Community Health Fair & Movie Night on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Valley High School, located at 6300 Ehrhardt Avenue in Sacramento.
The afternoon will begin with the health fair from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. inside the school gym. Organizers are encouraging residents to bring their families, meet people from the community and connect with local resources available during the event.
Once the health fair wraps up, the focus will move from the gym to the school’s quad. Movie Night is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., giving families an opportunity to stay after visiting the health fair and enjoy the second half of the evening together.
The format combines two different community activities into a single Saturday event. Rather than asking residents to attend separate gatherings, organizers are putting health information, community connections and family entertainment in the same place and on the same evening.
There is also an opportunity for organizations interested in participating directly in the health fair.
Applications are currently being accepted from prospective health fair vendors. Those interested in becoming a vendor should email [email protected] by Friday, September 4.
The September 26 event is open to families interested in learning more about local resources while also spending time together in a community setting. With the health fair running first and the movie immediately afterward, attendees can choose to participate in the resource portion, stay for the film, or make an evening of both.
The Community Health Fair & Movie Night will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Valley High School, with the health fair held in the gym from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Movie Night following in the quad from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
