Sacramento authorities detain 17-year-old after gun allegedly displayed during video chat

Sacramento, California – On Wednesday, police arrested a 17-year-old after they believe a severe threat made during a video conversation led them to find an illegal firearm in the teen’s house. According to investigators, the incident when another child said they were threatened during a video chat.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office says that the suspect reportedly showed a gun on camera and said things that made it sound like they were intending to harm the victim. The person who got the call indicated that the conduct and statements seemed real and scary, so they called the police immediately.

Deputies went to the suspect’s house soon after getting the call. They found an unregistered AR-15-style weapon hidden under the suspect’s bed when they were searching the house. A loaded magazine was found nearby, adding to concerns about the immediate risk posed by the situation, officials said.

The police arrested the young suspect at the scene without any difficulties. After the arrest, the youngster was taken to the Sacramento County Juvenile Detention Center, where they are now being held while the matter moves through the juvenile justice system.

Authorities emphasized that the quick decision by the victim to report the threat played a critical role in preventing potential harm Police are still looking into what happened, including how the gun was obtained and if other people were involved.

The case remains open, and officials are encouraging anyone who knows something to come forward. People who might have information about the incident are asked to call the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office at 916-874-5115.
