Sacramento County detectives investigate fatal shooting inside Howe Avenue business

Sacramento, California – A homicide investigation is underway in Sacramento County after a man was fatally shot Saturday morning inside a business on Howe Avenue, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident, according to the release sent to NS ARROW, was reported at about 11:20 a.m., when the Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call about a shooting inside a business in the 1000 block of Howe Avenue. Deputies were sent to the scene right away and entered the building, where they found a 31-year-old man suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the chest.

The first moments after deputies arrived were focused on saving the man’s life. Deputies began life-saving measures and called for emergency medical personnel to respond. Despite those efforts, fire personnel later pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Authorities said the suspect was no longer at the business when deputies arrived. According to the preliminary investigation, the suspect fled the area in a vehicle before law enforcement reached the scene. No suspect description or vehicle details were released in the provided information.

Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives responded to take over the investigation. Detectives are now working to determine what led up to the shooting, who was involved, and where the suspect went after leaving the area.

The Sheriff’s Office described the case as an active and ongoing homicide investigation. Officials have not released the victim’s name, and no additional details about the business or the circumstances inside the building were provided.
