Sacramento, California – A man was taken into custody Tuesday morning following an incident at a home in Sacramento County where he allegedly threatened his father with a knife, according to local authorities.
Deputies with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office responded at about 9:30 a.m. to the 3600 block of Jade Court after receiving a report of a weapons-related disturbance. The caller told dispatchers that his son had threatened him while armed with a knife. Officials later confirmed that the son did not live at the residence but had been permitted to sleep in a vehicle parked on the property.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the father fled the home on foot before deputies arrived. When officers located him, they determined that a crime had occurred, prompting a larger law enforcement response. Additional deputies and a sheriff’s K-9 unit were called to the scene, and a perimeter was set up around the residence.
Authorities also deployed a BearCat armored vehicle to broadcast repeated instructions for the suspect to surrender peacefully. Despite those announcements, the man did not immediately comply. According to the sheriff’s office, he later emerged by walking through the backyard of the home, at which point a K-9 identified as Niko was released and officers took him into custody.

The suspect was transported to a hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. After being cleared for release, he is expected to be booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. Officials said he faces suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse in connection with the incident.
