Councilmember Lisa Kaplan invites Sacramento neighbors to celebrate Meadows Park Phase 3 opening

Published on

Sacramento, California – Councilmember Lisa Kaplan said a new chapter is about to begin at Meadows Park, announcing that Phase 3 of the park will officially open on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

The completed phase brings new recreation space to the community, including four dedicated pickleball courts, one full basketball court and one tennis court. For residents who have watched the park grow piece by piece, the opening marks more than the finish of another project. It gives families, neighbors and players a new place to gather, compete, move and spend time outdoors.

Kaplan invited the community to join her and #TeamKaplan for an official ribbon cutting at the Phase 3 area of Meadows Park, located at 1840 N Breezy Meadow Drive. The free event will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the ribbon cutting ceremony set to begin at 3:45 p.m.

The celebration is open to everyone. Popcorn and water will be provided as residents get a first look at the newly completed amenities. The event is designed as a simple community gathering, but the meaning behind it is larger. New courts can become morning routines, after-school stops, weekend games and meeting places for people who may not have crossed paths otherwise.

Kaplan also thanked YPCE – City of Sacramento staff for their work on the project, saying the opening reflects the effort that went into bringing the latest phase to completion. Their work helped turn the park’s next section into a usable public space with options for different ages and interests.

The addition of pickleball, basketball and tennis courts also gives Meadows Park a broader mix of recreational opportunities. Pickleball continues to draw players of many skill levels, while basketball and tennis remain familiar favorites for families and athletes across the city.

For Kaplan, the message was direct and welcoming: Phase 3 is ready, the courts are finished and the community is invited to celebrate. “See you there!” she said.

The ribbon cutting will be held Tuesday, June 30, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Meadows Park’s Phase 3 area. The ceremony begins at 3:45 p.m., and all are welcome.
