Sacramento, California – Sacramento residents, restaurant operators and others interested in outdoor dining will have an opportunity this month to speak directly with city staff about the Al Fresco Outdoor Dining Program and the steps required to participate.
The City of Sacramento is hosting an informational session on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 300 Richards Blvd., Room DS-R221. The event begins at 1:30 p.m. and is designed to help participants better understand how outdoor dining activation works within the city.
Rather than requiring attendees to follow a fixed schedule for the entire session, the workshop will be held in an open house format. Participants may drop in, ask questions and receive one-on-one guidance from city staff. That structure is intended to give attendees the chance to focus on the parts of the program most relevant to their plans or questions.
During the session, staff will guide visitors through the Al Fresco Outdoor Dining Program’s application process, design standards, permit requirements and available resources. These are key elements for anyone considering an outdoor dining setup and seeking a clearer understanding of what is required before moving forward.
A brief presentation is also scheduled from 1:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. The presentation will provide an overview of the program and highlight major requirements for participation. For attendees who are new to the process, the overview offers a starting point before they speak individually with staff. Those who already have specific questions may use the open house portion to seek more direct guidance.
The session comes as outdoor dining continues to be an option for activating spaces in Sacramento while giving businesses and the public additional ways to use the city environment. Through the workshop, participants will be able to learn what the program involves, what standards apply and what resources may be available as they consider an outdoor dining project.
Those planning to attend can register for the Al Fresco Outdoor Dining Workshop through the event page: RSVP for the workshop.
Additional information about the program, including details provided by the City of Sacramento, is available online through the city’s Public Works section: Learn more about the Al Fresco Outdoor Dining Program.
For participants with questions about applications, permits, layouts or city requirements, the June 24 session offers a direct opportunity to learn more before taking the next step. By combining a short overview with individual assistance, the city is providing a setting where attendees can arrive with questions and leave with a clearer understanding of how the program works.
