Sacramento Fire Station 14 opens its doors to families this Saturday

Sacramento, California – A fire station is usually a place people see from the outside, often as an engine races toward an emergency. This Saturday, Sacramento residents will have a chance to step inside.

The Sacramento Fire Department is opening the doors of Station 14 for a two-hour community event designed to bring neighborhood firefighters and local families together in a relaxed setting.

The open house will run from 10 a.m. to noon at Station 14, located at 1400 N B St. in Sacramento. Residents can visit the station, meet the firefighters who serve the surrounding community and get a closer look at the space where crews prepare for emergency calls.

The department is inviting people of all ages to attend. Families can tour the station, speak directly with firefighters and spend part of their Saturday morning learning more about the people behind Sacramento’s emergency response services.

Unlike the brief encounters residents may have with fire crews during an emergency, the open house offers time for conversation. Visitors can ask questions, see the station from the inside and become more familiar with the firefighters working in their neighborhood.

The event is another Sacramento Fire Department open house, with Station 14 serving as the latest host. The department described it as a fun morning for families and encouraged local residents to stop by during the two-hour window.

No registration information or admission requirement was included in the announcement. Attendees can head directly to Station 14 between 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday.

“Stop by to meet your neighborhood firefighters, tour the station, and enjoy a fun morning with the family,” the department said in its invitation.

For Sacramento residents who have wondered what happens behind the doors of their local fire station, Saturday’s event offers a simple opportunity to find out — without the sirens, smoke or urgency that usually brings firefighters into public view.
