Councilmember Lisa Kaplan invites families to strengthen community ties at National Night Out set for August 4

Sacramento, California – For one summer evening, North Natomas Regional Park will become more than a place for recreation. It will turn into a neighborhood gathering spot filled with music, games, food and the simple conversations that can make a community feel closer.

Natomas residents are being asked to save Tuesday, August 4, for National Night Out with Councilmember Lisa Kaplan. The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m., bringing families, local businesses, law enforcement and community organizations together in one shared space.

National Night Out is built around a straightforward idea: stronger connections can help create stronger and safer neighborhoods. Instead of meeting only during emergencies or formal public events, residents have an opportunity to speak casually with the people who serve the area, learn about available resources and get to know others who live nearby.

The Natomas celebration will offer a wide mix of activities for children and adults. Bounce houses, family games and balloon making will provide entertainment for younger visitors, while live music and a DJ will keep the park active throughout the evening. A dunk tank will add another playful attraction to the lineup.

Food trucks will also be on site, giving attendees a chance to grab something to eat while exploring the event. Beer, wine and cocktails will be available for adults.

Beyond the entertainment, community resources will be an important part of the gathering. Residents will be able to connect with local groups, businesses and public safety representatives while learning more about services available in Natomas.

The event is also meant to create room for conversations that may not happen during a typical day. Neighbors can introduce themselves, families can spend time together and residents can speak directly with those working in and around their community.

Councilmember Kaplan is inviting people from across Natomas to bring their families, stop by and take part in the celebration. With three hours of activities planned, residents can attend for the full evening or visit while their schedules allow.

National Night Out will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, at North Natomas Regional Park. Organizers are encouraging residents to come out, say hello and celebrate the people who help make Natomas a community.
