Sacramento Fire welcomes 22 new recruits shaped by the motto the only way out is through

Sacramento, California – Sacramento Fire Department marked a proud moment this week as 22 new recruits completed Sacramento Regional Fire Academy 26-1 and officially stepped into the next chapter of their public safety careers.

The graduation ceremony took place at the Crest Theatre, where families, friends, mentors, and fellow firefighters gathered to celebrate the class. The new graduates came from Sacramento Fire, Woodland Fire, and UC Davis Fire, showing the regional spirit behind the academy and the shared mission that connects local fire service agencies.

For the recruits, the ceremony was more than a formal ending. It was the result of long days, early mornings, intense training, and constant testing. Fire academy life is built to challenge recruits physically and mentally, and this class carried a motto that reflected that reality: “The Only Way Out Is Through.”

Those six words became a steady reminder throughout the program. They spoke to the pressure, the discipline, and the determination required to keep moving forward even when the work became difficult. For Academy 26-1, the phrase grew into a promise: face the challenge, trust the training, and finish the mission.

The Sacramento Fire Department said the graduates showed dedication, resilience, and a strong commitment to succeed. Their journey through the academy prepared them for the responsibility that now waits outside the classroom and beyond the training ground.

As they crossed the stage and were sworn into the fire service, the recruits were surrounded by applause from the people who supported them along the way. The moment closed one chapter but opened another, as the graduates now begin serving and protecting the communities that have placed trust in them.

The department asked the public to join in congratulating the members of Fire Academy 26-1 on their achievement. The new firefighters now move forward from training into real service, carrying with them the lessons, discipline, and teamwork that shaped their academy experience.

Sacramento Fire also encouraged anyone interested in beginning a similar path to learn more about a career with the department. For the newest graduates, that journey has already begun, and their motto remains a fitting guide for the work ahead: the only way out is through.
