Sacramento, California – The City of Sacramento is opening the door for a human resources professional who wants to work at the center of public service hiring, employee classification, and workforce planning.

The city’s Human Resources Department, through its Employment Services Division, is seeking a Personnel Analyst to join the team. The role is designed for someone who is knowledgeable, analytical, and motivated, with the ability to handle detailed personnel work that helps support Sacramento’s growing and changing workforce.

The position touches several important parts of city employment. The Personnel Analyst will help support recruitment, develop examinations, and respond to Civil Service appeals. The work also includes conducting job audits, completing salary surveys, and updating class specifications, all of which help keep city jobs properly reviewed and organized.

The analyst will also prepare reports, recommendations, and presentations for leadership. That means the role is not only about reviewing rules and documents, but also about turning information into clear guidance for decision-makers.

Another major part of the job involves interpreting and applying Civil Service Rules, labor agreements, city policies, and employment laws. For Sacramento, these responsibilities are key to making sure hiring and personnel decisions are handled fairly, consistently, and in line with established rules.

City officials are presenting the opening as a chance to make a real impact from inside the Employment Services Division. The department describes the work environment as collaborative and forward-thinking, giving the selected candidate an opportunity to contribute to the systems that shape how the city recruits, evaluates, and supports its employees.

The salary for this position is $74,158.32 – $104,348.21, range is dependent on qualifications.
