Sacramento, California – The Sacramento Fire Department is welcoming a new member to its Prevention Team, with Johanna Lauderdale joining the department as its newest Office Specialist.
In her new role, Lauderdale supports the day-to-day work of the Prevention Team, assisting with administrative functions that help the department’s efforts move forward. While fire prevention work is often recognized through its public-facing mission, steady coordination behind the scenes also plays an important part in keeping daily operations organized and responsive.

Lauderdale comes to the Sacramento Fire Department with experience already rooted in public service. Before joining the Prevention Team, she worked with the City of Sacramento’s Waste Management Human Resources division. During that time, she developed experience in customer service, organization and human resources, skills she now brings into her new position with the fire department.
Her arrival adds another chapter to a career built within city service, moving from a human resources setting into a role supporting the work of Sacramento Fire. As Office Specialist, Lauderdale will help coordinate the administrative details that support the Prevention Team’s ongoing responsibilities.
A graduate of Sacramento State, Lauderdale earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. That educational background has contributed to the communication, interpersonal and organizational strengths she uses in her professional work. Those abilities are especially valuable in a position centered on supporting staff, maintaining coordination and helping ensure that daily tasks are handled with care.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Lauderdale also has a creative side. Away from work, she enjoys baking and trying new recipes in the kitchen, an interest that reflects her enthusiasm for learning and creating something new.
For Lauderdale, joining the Sacramento Fire Department represents both a meaningful opportunity and a place to continue developing her career in public service.
